Started in Los Angeles in the early months of 2016, Shyla Buff has alway been about re-creation. Evan Andree, the man behind the musical mask of the project, had been writing and producing for other artists and projects for quite a while before Shyla Buff was ever conceptualized. Tiring of using tricks in the studio to help bolster writing he was looking for a way to do more using less.

Drawing inspiration from bands like Beach House and Beach Fossils, Andree set out on a mission: create a living and breathing musical atmosphere within an artificially limited landscape. Stripping down the process to just a handful of elements has allowed Shyla Buff to take on a unique personality. Simple threads are woven together to make a complex whole.

Shyla Buff now returns with “An Indication”. Drawing inspiration after a trip to the desert in Southern California, Andree set out to capture his experience in sound. Lyrically, the track explores the subtle insecurities of human relationships. “I tend to get lost in my own head when it comes to analyzing how others relate to me,” Andree says. “Sometimes you think other people are changing but later realize the only person acting differently is yourself. This song explores this often not so pretty mindset unapologetically.”

Shyla Buff confirm their dedication to re-creation with the all new “An Indication”: New elements are present but within the context of the same simplicity we’ve seen from them before. As in life and any journey, some things change while others stay the same. Art imitating life, life imitating art. The story continues.
